What is the LED?

The LED is a Light Emitting Diode: an electronic component used to convert electricity into light. When a small current flows through it, the LED emits infrared- and ultraviolet-free light, turning on immediately.

Different colour temperatures
In incandescent and halogen lamps, the colour temperature is determined by the filament and cannot be changed, whereas LED lights can be obtained at different colour temperatures. The average temperature is rarely higher than 50°.
